Camera fades in as #1 Daron Smythe is sitting in a dark room with a single spotlight hanging overhead. The spotlight focuses on a chess board, fully set up in the middle of a table...
Daron: When it comes to the competition in the UWL, it's fair to say most of you are playing checkers, and I am playing chess. The metaphor is quite simple, really.
Daron beckons at the board...
Daron: The game is unlike many others because you will willingly concede space and pieces to set up larger moves later on in the game...
Daron pulls away a pawn from his side...
Daron: Take my UWL debut, for instance. After a long layoff from the professional wrestling business, I debuted against a long-time UWL stalwart, Robb Daniels. A defeat, no doubt. But I don't view it as simply a defeat, I view it as a way to learn and a way to understand how things work around here.
Daron knocks away two pawns from the opposite side of the board...
Daron: Ace Sky and Tyler Barrett, two men who could no doubt be great, yet merely served as the first few steps of a master plan.
Daron removed three pawns from his own side...
Daron: And then a four way elimination match with...interesting rules, but again, who am I to stand in the way of Billy Danielson's coronation?
Daron removes a knight from his own side...
Daron: But then again there's that Anthony Cross, Caleb Hart's ol buddy.
Daron removes the rook, knight, and bishop from the other side...
Daron: Leonardo and Evan Atlas were resolute, but again, just steps on the way to a grander design.
Finally, all that's left are the Queen and King...
Daron: At Starrzone, I finally get rid of a thorn in my side...
Daron knocks away the Queen, and only the King is left on the opposite end of the board...
Daron: Then, I come for the king.
Daron snaps his fingers and the camera fades to black.
