Newscaster: Good evening, Nashville! I'm Jon Burton, and it's time for your daily news update.
Our top story tonight, councilmembers in Nashville and residents alike are expressing concerns over an impending stadium deal for the Tennessee Titans. While it passed the first hurdle, not everyone is on board with the plan. Some think other things should take priority like public safety and affordable housing. On top of that, there are questions about potential impact to an ancient indigenous city underneath Nashville.
In other news, this week, you will get to say what you think about newly drawn maps that cut the number of Metro Council seats in half. The maps were released Friday, two weeks after Governor Lee signed the new law. While there are two redistricting map options, they might not end up being used as there is a lawsuit against the state in the works. The two maps are just a bit different mixing up the numbers of at-large and city-wide council seats. One has three at large seats and the other has five.
Saturday night, professional wrestling returns to the historic Municipal Auditorium in downtown Nasvhille, as the stars of the UWL will invade this historic venue. Matches include David Carroll vs. Leonardo, Robert Daniels vs. Nick Danger, Jackson Burnside vs. Daron Smythe, Dayna Barrett vs. Rylee Poverly, and Anthony Cross vs. El Gran Galaxia
And now, let's take a look at the weather forecast for the next seven days. For that, we turn to our weather expert, Jason Lamb.
*Weather report music plays*
Jason Lamb: Thanks, Jon. We're looking at a mostly sunny week here in Nashville, with temperatures averaging in the mid-60s during the day and dropping to the mid-40s at night.
Monday and Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 65 degrees, followed by partly cloudy skies on Wednesday with a high of 63 degrees. Thursday will bring a slight chance of rain with a high of 61 degrees.
Friday will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 60s, while Saturday...
*Snap! A boot flashes into the screen and catches Jason Lamb directly under the chin, causing him to slump in a heap on the studio floor. Shrill shrieks erupt throughout the studio as the production staff scatters and into the shot saunters the UWL Television Champion, #1 Daron Smythe. Smythe has a wry smile on his face, glancing down at the fallen body of the local weatherman, then refocusing and piercing a glaze directly into the camera*
Daron: Oh my, looks like someone won't get to finish tonight's AccuWeather forecast. A shame really, but that's the thing about these weathermen, they're wrong half the time anyway...
*Smythe chuckles to himself but regains his composure and continues*
Daron: But even if ol' Jason is down for the count, I can give you my own personal forecast for this Saturday.
I predict black clouds, directly over Mr. Burnside himself and his time here in the UWL. I'd predict a very, very short title reign for Mr. Burnside to be quite frank, but this here is a "Proving Ground" - but at this point, who needs to prove themselves? Me? I'd think not.
I can remember first coming to the UWL and seeing the great Caleb Hart being challenged by Jackson Burnside for the UWL World Championship and thinking certainly, this beast of a man is going to be the one to do it, Jackson Burnside is going to be the one to wrest that championship away from the legendary Caleb Hart. But then, you fell short, Jackson. I have to admit, I was disappointed. I thought you'd be the man, but alas...
Leonardo is an artist, there's no denying that. He's the most unique character in the UWL. But hell, I beat him before he even got that Heritage title shot. I'm not even sure what Leonardo is after but I don't even know if that guy cares if he wins or loses...
But me? I care deeply, Jackson. Like you, I'm trying a bit of reinvention. I'd consider it a very, very similar career path. I was certain after winning that Universal Stampede that I was on a path straight to that World Title - but it wasn't meant to be...yet.
No, I have to get meaner and craftier and more low down that ever and if you think I can't? Ask Nick Danger.
I watched your post-match press conference and just like all the so-called "top guys" - talking about everything else, the past, the old glory - everything but ME. A part of me is used to it but there's still a huge part of me that is bothered by all of this.
You can down your milk and eggs, you can grandstand, you can do it all, Jackson. This Saturday, you come one on one with the most undeniable force in this company today. You are merely another stop on my road to my destiny and that is to be the UWL World Champion, the only variable is time...
*Daron snaps his fingers and the scene quickly cuts to black*
