Deacon Cromwell walks through the curtain to the backstage area, his face a mix of relief and disappointment. He had just won his match against Sage Jenkins, but he knew it wasn't enough. He needed Billy Danielson to defeat Cory Chevelle earlier in the night to force a three-way tie and keep his hopes alive in the Coronation Cup.
Lady Amara Jo encourages him with a smile. "Good job out there, Deacon. You showed them what you're made of," she says, trying to lift his spirits.
Deacon forces a smile and nods his head in appreciation. "It's just a shame that I won't have a chance to continue in the tournament," he responds, his voice laced with disappointment.
Abby Joseph approaches Cromwell for a word.
Abby Joseph - "Deacon Cromwell, congratulations on your victory against Sage Jenkins tonight. However, it was bittersweet as your loss in the Coronation Cup against Cory Chevelle earlier tonight eliminated you from the tournament. Can you share your thoughts on that?"
Deacon Cromwell - "It's frustrating, Abby. I came into this tournament with one goal: to win it all. But Cory Chevelle is a tough competitor, and he got the better of me tonight. I have to give credit where credit is due."
Abby Joseph - "Speaking of Cory Chevelle, many fans consider him to be one of the top wrestlers in the business. What's your take on him?"
Deacon Cromwell - "Cory Chevelle is a monster in the ring. He's one of the toughest competitors out there, and I knew going into our match that it was going to be a battle. Unfortunately, he came out on top this time."
Lady Amara Jo - "Deacon, don't sell yourself short. You made a name for yourself in the Coronation Cup, especially against Billy Danielson and Cory Chevelle. You were in the toughest block of the entire tournament."
Deacon Cromwell - "I appreciate your support. But Abby, I have to address something you said earlier. You questioned how I defeated Billy Danielson with the distraction by David Carroll. Let me make it clear: I didn't need any help to beat Billy Danielson. I'm more than capable of winning on my own."
Abby Joseph - "I apologize if I offended you, Deacon. Moving forward, you have a match against Jackson Burnside in a couple of weeks. What can we expect from that?"
Deacon Cromwell - "Jackson Burnside better be prepared and on his A Game when he steps into the ring with me. I'm not going to let anyone stand in the way of my goals. So, Jackson, consider this a warning."
Deacon Cromwell then storms out of the frame, ending the interview.
