The camera fades in backstage at the CFG Bank Arena just moments after Eruption ends. UWL Reporter is backstage standing in front of a closed door to one of the locker rooms
ABBY: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Eruption After Show, I am UWL Head Reporter Abby Joseph to bring you all the goings on after an exciting episode of Eruption...
Abby's introduction is interrupted as the locker room door behind her flies open, a chair being thrown so hard it opens the door violently and lands mere feet away from Abby's feet...
ABBY: What the hell?!
Inside the locker room, you hear another loud clanging and Abby reluctantly brings the cameraman into the locker room where UWL World Champion Daron Smythe is throwing anything he can get his hands on at the walls and doors and spaces around him...
DARON: GOD DAMMIT!
ABBY: DARON, CALM DOWN - YOU ALMOST KILLED ME WITH A CHAIR!
Daron notices Abby standing at the doorway and his face instantly changes from one twisted with rage to one filled with fear...
DARON: Abby! I'm so sorry - I just wanted some time to myself and I didn't know you'd be outside or anyone for that matter.
ABBY: It's certainly an interesting way to act after you win a main event.
DARON: See Abby...that's the thing. Sure, it goes down in the record book as a win. But you know, I know, everyone knows it's not real. There's an asterisk there. That damn hypocrite David Carroll getting involved - it makes me so angry. There's nothing I want more than to beat Billy Danielson and cement my legacy as one of the greatest ever, but that's not real. No. And Billy's welcome to a rematch anytime. He deserves it.
ABBY: Interesting to hear you say all of that because if a rematch is going to happen, it's going to be a little while - I've just been told your next two matches have been announced. In two weeks, you will team with Cory Chevelle against Jackson Burnside and David Carroll and in four weeks time, the rubber match between you and David Carroll will take place for the UWL World Title. Your thoughts?
Daron rubs his chin as a large grin spreads across his face...
DARON: 2023 has been an incredible year for me thus far, it's been an incredible year for the UWL. The amount of talent here right now I'd put up against any roster in the world. Past, present, and future are merging together in a way that's creating opportunities I didn't think would exist. For example, Cory Chevelle is someone I have admired from afar. I feel like our stories are very similar and he's even holding that Television title now and doing a damn good job of it. I'll be interested to team with him because not only is he someone that's great to have on your side - this gives me a chance to observe his game from up close. I can tell Cory's happy to be Television Champion but not satisfied, yet. I bet he's thinking the same thing right now, that he'll get a chance to scout me for a potential future match.
Then there's Jackson Burnside, the Weatherman. A guy I thought was going to be the one to carry the flag way back when against Caleb Hart. He did what the old timers call "go away and learn a new hold" and here he is, more invigorated than ever. I welcome the chance to get into the ring with someone at the top of their game. Iron sharpens iron. I need it, I know I do. And I'm sure he's getting ready to trade in that Heritage belt and get his own crack at the World Title. I can't wait to get in the ring with the Weatherman because I have my own forecast for the match - 100% chance of defeat.
Finally, there's David Carroll. Ahead of our third match in the trilogy - and man, it hits me the irony in a trilogy, a holy trinity of matches. It's not lost on me David. I've been calling you out for a long time because I see you for what you are - a fake, a phony, a false prophet. You better go back and read that Bible, most specifically those Ten Commandments because you damn near broke all of them tonight. You go out there and buy all the What Would Jesus Do wristbands you can find, you can preach and pretend, you can thump your Bible - but the stone cold truth is that I am #1, David. You are the golden calf yourself. It's interesting, my favorite Psalm is 1:1 - "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful." Again, a triology of thoughts or truths that couldn't apply more to you right now, David. You've met your Goliath, except this time, when you shoot your little slingshot at me, I'm going to laugh. Because I'm not some faithless, overgrown monster who doesn't take you seriously. Oh no, I know exactly what I'm up against. I see you exactly as you are. You are not the brave warrior like your Biblical namesake. And you will fall...
Daron snaps his fingers and the picture quickly cuts to black...
