"I'm glad you could come. Take a seat. I know it's not the nicest room but it's comfortable enough.
"No I don't really have anything to offer. This isn't exactly a fine hotel with a minibar. We can order something if you want, if you're going to stay awhile.
"Just don't put your shoes on the bed.
"I'm happy to see you. If I had known you were in town, in the area, I'd have invited you to the show.
"Yes, even though I lost. You could have come backstage. Met some people, I could've shown you around. Get your foot in the door... Wait, no. I suppose I was late wasn't I? That wasn't for dramatic effect or anything. I'm never late for shows; you know I'm always punctual.
"I don't think it made a difference. I've got no excuses. When I heard it was going to be a Triple Threat I knew what could happen. And it's exactly what happened. BRADDOCK was in the right place at the right time. Walloped me real good, could have given me a concussion.
"I didn't get checked out... Because I didn't want to. I'm alright.
"You don't need to remind me. A month ago, Hell it was the last time we spoke wasn't it? A month ago I had so much. Now I'm back to nothing, just a dingy motel room and the world wondering if Jackson Burnside has run out of steam. This isn't the first time though. What was it, year and a half ago? When Caleb beat me. Then there's everything, you know, before. When I was a kid.
"Because there's nothing to say. It's been said to death. I've been down like this before, more than once and it'll happen s'more in the future. I've always known that things ebb and flow like this. Ups and downs, that's my life story. If I let all the downs keep me down I'd probably be in a hole like my parents. Life throws gold at you, then it throws shit. I'd had a long high. I knew this was coming. I think, maybe that's why I was so determined to be the best. To make something of my run as Heritage Champ. To make it count as much as possible because it wasn't gonna last forever.
"Yeah, I'll get a chance at the next show... That's possible. He lost to Benson, she out-played him with her feet on the ropes. She wouldn't have pulled that off with me in the ring that's for sure. Billy and I, we've had a rough go of it this year. Highs and lows, ups and downs. That's why I know I can beat him. I can reverse this and come out of 2023 looking and feeling good. Anything can happen between the ropes. I don't have to tell you that.
"Hah! You think that's what it takes? Put the Weatherman to bed? I'm having too much fun to do that. Maybe he needs a night off... Yeah get an old friend involved. Get a hell of a pop at least... Well either way I'm not gonna sit here moping. I'm not gonna sit here feeling sorry for myself. Since you're here I figure we can have a good time. What's open this late? We should order something.
Enough of this. Thanks for letting my unload. Find something and order, I'll pay. I'm gonna get changed and clean up, I expect something to be here soon."
