UWL ERUPTION
POST-SHOW
After a close loss, UWL Heritage Champion Billy Danielson is stumbling through the backstage area, nearly dragging his championship belt from exhaustion. His teeth are crimson-colored after his mouth was busted from the right hook that sealed his fate in the tag team main event. He’s grumbling to himself until the camera crew comes running up to him. Danielson pauses to catch his breath, and you can hear him scoff under his breath before looking at the camera with a bewildered look in his eyes.
Billy Danielson - JACKSON BURNSIDE!!!
He starts to laugh, though exhaustion can be heard straining his voice as his red teeth gnash out the words.
Billy Danielson - Maybe we are meant to play this game forever.
Danielson spits a bit of the blood out of his mouth.
Billy Danielson - We can’t seem to stay out of each other's way no matter how hard we try to rid ourselves of each other. We can’t seem to get a consistent edge, no matter how many times we try to outdo the other.
Billy flings his championship over his shoulder. It shimmers red and gold from Billy’s blood droplets and the lights above.
Billy Danielson - But here’s the thing, Jackson, I’ve still got this.
He pats his Heritage Championship.
Billy Danielson - I am still Heritage Champion.
You can tell he’s frustrated from the loss, but he’s trying to stay positive. His crimson smile starts to fade. A look of determination and stoicism on his face.
Billy Danielson - You can beat me in exhibitions. You can push me past my limits when backed by a man like Cory Chevelle. You can have all the momentum that you think you need. When it matters most though? When stakes are high and titles are on the line it’s been me that comes out on top.
He pauses as he spits more blood from his breath.
Billy Danielson - That won’t change at Starrzone. I’m down this week, but I’m not out. The taste of my own blood gives me a determination I had forgotten about. The fact that I can still see the bright lights of the Thompson-Boling Arena every time I blink will serve as a reminder of how far I’ve come since earlier this year when I was struggling to exist.
Danielson shakes his head as if trying to emphasize the fact that nobody should be doubting his run as Heritage Champion.
Billy Danielson - Most importantly, I know you too well Jackson. I keep coming back to this. We’ve been doing this non-stop since you started at UWL. We fight and we fight and we fight. You humble me in matches like you did tonight, and I remind people that you too still bleed when you start to seem unstoppable.
He smirks.
Billy Danielson - And after seeing you hit your stride again tonight…
Billy rubs his fingers on his teeth and shows his blood-stained fingertips to the camera. He still has a smirk on his face.
Billy Danielson - I’m going to give you a receipt you won’t ever forget.
Danielson spits on the ground again, before hobbling down the hallways so he can get changed and go home.
