The UWL Heritage Championship glistens in the spotlight as the scene opens. The rich history of nearly 2 decades radiates from the golden face plate. The camera pans out to reveal the velvet runner and podium that is placed on. It also reveals the man who has held the championship since October, Billy Danielson.
Fresh off an unsuccessful campaign to unify the Heritage and World Championship to recreate Caleb Hart’s Triple Crown Championship, Billy Danielson was focused on his first title defense since early June.
Billy Danielson - “You know, in my chasing of legacies and recreating of status symbols…”
There’s a bit of remorse in his voice. Danielson didn’t mean to neglect his duties as champion. He was just so focused on adding to the prestige of the Heritage Championship, he wasn’t available to face anyone for his title.
Billy Danielson - “I hadn’t noticed the rest of my division catching up to me.”
Danielson pauses. He thinks about the newer names that have appeared over the last handful of months and started building their names around the UWL. Potential challengers, he hasn’t even thought about due to his long feud with Robb Daniels and his 4-way feud with Daron, Jackson, and Cory. It weighs heavy on his mind.
Billy Danielson - “These kinds of things happen when you’re a champion. You get bigger opportunities. You face higher talent. You think you can see it all, but sometimes you’re so focused on the bigger picture that the finer details lose their focus.”
He drifts off a bit, as his tone changes.
Billy Danielson - “Blade Lavigne”
Billy looks off-screen for a second as he acknowledges the first of what could be many more challengers for his championship reign.
Billy Danielson - “You may have slipped by me at first, but now you are my focus.”
His voice is very stoney and stoic as if he was a man on a mission.
Billy Danielson - “And that’s a problem you may not want because I’m dangerous when I’m focused.”
Danielson smirks as he gets back into the groove of being a fighting champion.
Billy Danielson - “Just ask some of the great names that have walked these hallowed halls.”
He spreads his arms as if meaning the actual halls of the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. Chuckling to himself, he looks down at the ground for a moment and looks back up with a serious look to match his more serious tone.
Billy Danielson - “Blade, I fear for your.”
Billy says coldly.
Billy Danielson - “I’ve seen how you’ve struggled since your debut earlier this year. You’ve strung a couple of wins and opportunities, but you’ve yet to capitalize.”
He shrugs, despite knowing the answer to his question. Blade LaVigne has done a lot of highlightable things in the UWL, but his difficulties closing the deal are well-documented.
Billy Danielson - “Could tonight be your night? Do you finally follow through with the opportunities awarded to you? Are you finally going to prove that Blade LaVigne is exactly that ‘Future’ you’ve labeled yourself?”
Danielson shakes his head disappointedly.
Billy Danielson - “I don’t think so… and I have a feeling you don’t think so either.”
He raises a finger, countering himself.
Billy Danielson - “But let me tell you something, Blade…”
His voice gets a little lighter, like talking to a younger brother who had a bad game.
Billy Danielson - “Despite the goofy name and the heavy losses on your record…”
His finger stays up as he slowly reaches his point.
Billy Danielson - “I see your perserverence. I see your dedication to your craft. You try and you fight and you survive to see another card…”
Billy points at the camera.
Billy Danielson - “That’s nothing to knock.”
He wants to give Blade the credit he deserves, as he has earned a UWL Heritage Championship after all. Billy just didn’t see Blade as someone at the level of himself just yet.
Billy Danielson - “You are not Heritage Championship ready. You are not Billy Danielson ready.”
He raises that finger back up, bouncing it to the rhythm of his voice as he makes his next statement.
Billy Danielson - “But I believe that one day you will be.
The Heritage Champion softens his face, feeling as if he’d been a little too harsh on Blade all things considered.
Billy Danielson - “I believe, that just as I said these things to Daron Smythe, Nick Danger, and Jackson Burnside, you too can be a bigger name in this company.”
He nods to reaffirm his kind words.
Billy Danielson - “And when that day comes, you’ll understand why today is not ‘The Future’.”
Billy places one hand on the Heritage Champion to emphasize the fact that Blade will not be touching his title tonight, but certainly has the potential to one day. His soft smile grows a little bit as he looks at the camera.
Billy Danielson - “I’ll see you out there, Blade.”
Danielson pulls his championship off the pedestal and throws it over his shoulder, ready to finally be a defending and retaining champion once again.

The crowd starts taunting Levi Atlas.
Levi Atlas - I am so sick of all of you. I am laying down a challenge for UWL to pick any three against three from WWA. This won't just be another trios match. This time it will be winner take all!!
The crowd erupts in a cheer.
Levi Atlas - If UWL wins they take over WWA. But here's what will happen. When, not if. When WWA wins we take over UWL!!!!
Levi Atlas throws the microphone as he helps Bryan Solace up the aisle.
The show cuts to a break.

Scene opens in the bustling backstage area of the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. The sounds of the crowd can be faintly heard in the background, creating an electrifying atmosphere. The camera pans through various wrestlers and crew members preparing for the night’s big event. Finally, it settles on UWL Reporter Abby Jacobs, who is standing in front of a door marked "Champion's Locker Room." She knocks gently before entering.
ABBY: Ladies and gentlemen, I'm Abby Jacobs, and I'm here backstage at UWL's Eruption in the Myrtle Beach Sports Center. Tonight's main event promises to be a thrilling encounter as our reigning UWL Heavyweight Champion, Daron Smythe, defends his title against the former Television Champion, Jenna Jillian Walker. Right now, I'm about to get an exclusive word with the champ himself.
The camera follows Abby as she enters the locker room. Daron Smythe is seen taping his wrists, a focused and intense look on his face. His championship belt is prominently displayed on a bench beside him.
ABBY: Daron, thank you for taking the time to speak with us tonight. With such a high-stakes match just moments away, how are you feeling going into this defense against Jenna Jillian Walker?
Daron Smythe looks up, his expression a mix of confidence and determination. He stands up, adjusting his gear as he prepares to address the camera.
DARON: Abby, tonight is just another night where I prove why I’m the best in this business. Jenna Jillian Walker might be a former Television Champion, but she’s stepping into the ring with the top dog now. I’ve worked too hard and come too far to let anyone take this title from me.
He grabs the championship belt, holding it up for the camera to see.
DARON: This represents everything I've fought for. And tonight, in front of all these fans here in Myrtle Beach, I’m going to show Jenne and the entire UWL why I’m the champion. So, Jenna, I hope you’re ready, because I’m bringing everything I’ve got.
Abby nods, sensing the intensity in Daron’s voice.
ABBY: There you have it, folks. Daron Smythe is ready and determined to retain his title tonight. Don't miss what promises to be an unforgettable main event. Back to you at ringside!
Suddenly, Daron springs from his seat and snatches the microphone from Abby, the intensity clearly building inside of him, the rage overflowing as he takes a deep breath and addresses the camera...
DARON: Abby, I'm really sorry to have to do that to ya but this isn't just some simple hype promo for a main event match. While Jenna Jillian Walker is a helluva competitor and I respect everything she's done here in the UWL, I can't help but look past her. I hope that doesn't cost me tonight but I have one target firmly in my sights, and that's you, Cyrus Rinaldi...
...just thinking about you makes my blood boil! I have had time to stew over what happened at Battlestar, you taking my moment away from me, no doubt planting your flag in the ground, calling your next shot, staking your claim to be the next UWL World Heavyweight Champion. I will tell you this, Cyrus, I respect the boldness, I respect the moxie, because honestly, it's something I would do. Hell, it's something I HAVE done...
...you know, the more and more I think about it, it isn't just that we have similar backgrounds and similar stories, it's that you are trying to copy my road to the World Heavyweight Championship. In fact, I think you might be obsessed with me, thinking you're the next "me" but let me tell ya this, Cyrus, plenty of people have tried to make a "new" version of something and like you, they usually suck. Think "New" Coke or "New" Midnight Express or Saved By The Bell "The New Class". It's a cheap imitation. It close, but not close enough.
...maybe that's what you're going for? More people remember Ric Flair as The Nature Boy than Buddy Rogers now, right? But you? You're no Daron Smythe. You're not even a Buddy Landell. And when...and maybe I'm making a mistake looking past tonight...but WHEN I win tonight, rest assured, you're next Cyrus Rinaldi. I've cleared the chess board and there's one piece left. It's you...my destiny is to be the Number One wrestler of all time in the UWL and the only f'n variable...is time!
The camera fades out as Abby steps back, allowing Daron to continue his preparations.

Nicole Sanders was looking at her television title and smirked. She runs her hands along the nameplate. She starts tracing her name. She lightly licks her lips.
Nicole: Winning this title has meant everything to me. It showed I belonged here, it showed the pathetic losers who acted like I was nothing, just eye candy for Cory that I could do something. It showed that unlike pathetic cunts I could wrestle unlike them. It showed that I was more than they were. I have shown that and more. I am sure plenty thought I would lose it in my first defense, yet here I am in my second one. It shows don't judge a book by its cover.
Nicole shakes her head while she laughs softly.
Nicole: It's funny though who I am facing for my second defense, Nova Jackson. Nova, I don't know why you are even getting a show for, I mean you just had a shot at the TWN championship and couldn't even win it. What makes you think you are going to have any luck against me? I know you won't. I have said I am not giving this title up that easy, and I plan on keeping my word. You can try beating me Nova, but you will come up short again. Just don't get discouraged after you lose another shot at a title. You will one day win one. Til then, just learn from your mistakes, like thinking you have a shot at beating me. Go ahead, try, but it will be too bad, better luck next time.
Nicole smirks, as she puts her title on her shoulder. She starts walking away.

The cameras take us backstage to catering. There's a small set-up of some tables, chairs, northing too elaborate. Hot trays with some food items, though from where the cameras are we cannot see what they have. There's a mixture of different people around, from wrestlers to arena staff, to UWL-specific staff who keep the show flowing. There's a small flat screen up on the wall airing Eruption, currently replaying clips from the last match.
Sitting at the middle of a white table closest to the camera is Jackson Burnside. Not booked to compete tonight, and so The Weatherman is dressed in his street clothes tonight. His hair is tied up and back in a knot, a yellow beard has been growing back. It indicates perhaps that he hasn't bothered to shave since coming up short again at Battlestar. Burnside turns himself so he can see the television, turning away from his food. A plate with what appears to be some sort of cheesy noodle, an indiscriminate green vegetable, large heel of bread and a small bowl which contains a clear soup. Jackson's back is turned away from the end of the table, and somebody sits down behind him.
He either doesn't hear or decides to pay no mind. Of course, he doesn't realize that this a person he's been wanting to see. Seated a few feet away from Burnside is the man-with-a-raspy-voice. He's dressed in a deep blue tailored suit, his face clean shaven and graying blonde hair freshly trimmed. The clips on the TV end and Burnside turns to attend his food. He glances over and pauses when he sees him. Burnside pushes his food away and suspiciously eyes him. The other man, for his credit, maintains a pleasant and non-threatening smile. Burnside sucks his teeth and taps his index finger against the table.
Jackson Burnside: "You're gonna come talk to me, you better tell me your real name brother."
Harlan DuBois: "Harlan DuBois. And, I would like to apologize for the duplicity."
Burnside is obviously confused. He looks down at Harlan's chest, at the laminated lanyard permitting him access backstage.
Jackson Burnside: "Well I know you ain't really media. I want you tell me what's goin' on. What are you doin'? Huh?"
Harlan DuBois: "I'm a man of many talents Mr. Burnside. I've worked in media, journalism, broadcasting, I've managed athletes and actors, I've been a secretary and personal assistant to tech moguls and Wall Street giants. I've even dabbled into paralegal duties, though I won't pretend to be a lawyer. You want to ask me what I'm doing? I wanted to meet you, Mr. Burnside." He holds up his hand to silence the inevitable question. "The real you. A candid interview, deep insights into a man that I find fascinating. So I developed a little ruse, and I'm sorry for that."
Jackson Burnside: "What about that video package?"
Harlan DuBois: "Marvelous wasn't it? I may have been in the AV Club when I was a boy, but I had a little production studio put that together. They worked with the UWL crew, and we sourced some of those personal videos from your wife. As for the why, well it was sometiing on a resume I supppose."
Burnside looks away and noods his head. He lets the confirmation hang in the air for awhile. He grabs the bread off of his plate, dips it into the soup and takes a bite.
Jackson Burnside: "Okay. So a resume for what? You want to be my production guy? Run the socials, get me over with the kids on TikTok?"
Harlan DuBois: "Sure. I also want to do whatever you ask me to. I want to me your shadow, Mr. Burnside. The man-behind-the-man. The video itself wasn't the resume, it was the process. You've seen my resourcefulness. I know a lot of people, and I've had my hand in any number of cookie jars. I can handle everything for you. Call it whatever you want. Your manager, assistant, partner, it doesn't matter to me."
Burnside takes another big bite out of the bread. He waves what's left of it in the air.
Jackson Burnside: "Why? Why do you want to do this? Why is a guy, with all the knowledge, skills and connections you say you have, puttin' so much effort into a guy like me? I think it stinks a little, jack."
Harlan takes a deep breath.
Harlan DuBois: "You need it, more than you think. Look at yourself, right now. You lost another title match at Battlestar, and what are doing? Campaigning and banging down doors? Getting up in Daron Smythe's face? Calling out Cory Chevelle and ending your feud with him once and for all in the ring? No. No you're sitting here in catering, eating cheap food and watching the show like a curtain jerker! Is your career going to end this way? Out in a fizzle of sad meals and irrelevancy? I don't want that for you. I want to help, because I think that you are a special person, Mr. Burnside. Foremost before everything else that I am, all my knowledge, skills, and accreditations, I am a fan of pro wrestling. You are pro wrestling at it's finest. You entertain, you perform in that ring to the best of your ability and the best of your ability is very great! More to the point you have convictions and integrity, you stray here or there but you acknowledge those failures and correct yourself."
Burnside is quiet. He takes it all in, everything Harlan is saying rings true and he knows it. Indeed, perhaps hearing it from someone else for the first time, the suggestion that his career may be at it's tail end, is giving him something to contemplate.
Harlan DuBois: "I want to bring you back to the top. I want to be here to help you stand when you get knocked down, catch you when you fall, and raise your hand in victory when you reach the top again."
Jackson Burnside: "That all sounds good brother. Thing is I've always done it on my own, so you know...?"
Harlan DuBois: "So, I know what? You're drowning in a lake and I'm offering you a branch Mr. Burnside, accept it."
Harlan extends his hand. Burnside looks Harlan over and stares at his hand. He sucks his teeth again and shakes his head, unsure what to make of the proposal. Harlan is not dissuade as he retracts the handshake.
Harlan DuBois: "Do me one favor: tell yourself, 'I will become World Champion.'"
Burnside looks around, he wonders if this is a place to make a scene. He mutters in a normal speaking voice:
Jackson Burnside: "I'll- I will become World Champion again."
Harlan DuBois: "Don't say it like a pussy say it like you mean it!"
Burnside smacks the table, which causes everyone to look over. This time he orotates much louder.
Jackson Burnside: "I will become World Champion!"
Harlan stands up.
Harlan DuBois: "I SAID SAY IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT!"
Burnside stands up and joins him.
Jackson Burnside: "I'm gonna become World Champion, and brother nobody is gonna tell me otherwise."
Harlan extends his hand, and this time Burnside accept with no hesitation.
Harlan DuBois: "You'll find I've already emailed you my compensation and amenities requests." He puts his arm around Burnside's shoulder and guides him out of catering. "Let's get to work."

UWL Eruption comes back from a commercial break. We find ourselves in the Sports Center! The crowd is active and gets loud as the camera pans over the arena! Suddenly the camera switches to the titantron. White static quickly goes back to a black screen. We hear deep breaths, in and out. The camera is blacked out. We hear speaking, it's calm.
"Am I even suppose to be here?
Is UWL the right place for me?
Nothing seems to be clicking..
And...
It's frustrating."
There's a break in the dialogue. Letting the UWL crowd think a little bit. Confusion and concern is shown on some of the people in the audience. The speaking starts up as this seems to be a pre-recorded vignette.
"I'm trying but...
But everything I try to do, something goes wrong.
From outside noise,
Undeserving surprise attacks
To a pathetic champion, finding a way to escape from my grasps."
The mere mention of a champion receives a small pop from the crowd, yet everyone still seems concerned and a little confused. The crowd inside the arena continues to pay attention.
"I'm failing...
To accomplish any of my goals.
I'm failing to reach places I know I CAN reach!
I can see the end goal, I can visualize the success but..
Something is off. Something feels out of sync. I'm letting the UWL fans down... I'm letting UWL down as toxicity continues to climb.
...
I feel like I'm letting my daughter down..
Out of nowhere, just the sweetest, pure voice is heard."Daddy! I'm home from school!"
Suddenly, the camera turns on, a pair of hazel, big eyes open up. The camera zooms out, and we see Blade "The Future" LaVigne sitting down inside of a room, that looks like his family home! Blade allows himself to smile as a young girl runs into the room and throws herself into his arms, as they embrace for a hug!
Blade "The Future" LaVigne
Hi honey! Give daddy one minute and we will make some dinner and find something to do!
Blade kisses his daughter on the top of the head, she looks up at him and nods her head as she runs off of view and leaves the room! Blade slowly gives his attention to the camera and speaks again.
Blade "The Future" LaVigne
No more.
No more will I feel like a failure. That little girl is my whole world and she is my motivation to put on my boots every week and do what I am passionate about!
I'm no longer going to fail here in UWL. I promise you, that all changes today, this week, and tonight.
Billy, respectfully, your reign as Heritage Champion is over.
And beating you, will be the first major step towards healing UWL, forever.
Billy Danielson, I hope you're ready for war, and I hope you're ready to hand me that championship when I beat you.
And Billy, as respectful as possible...
You'll Thank Me In The End!
Blade stares into the camera as the camera fades to black, we were the crowd get semi loud and excited for the rest of the show!
