We are backstage at the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Ashville, North Carolina as Eruption is on the air. UWL Reporter Abby Joseph is standing in front of the UWL logo, where she is about to begin her interview...
ABBY: Ladies and gentlemen, Eruption is on the air and is already another exciting episode and few things tonight will be more exciting than our all star six man tag team main event, where Cyrus Rinaldi, Cory Chevelle, & BRADDOCK will take on the trio of Billy Danielson, "The Weatherman" Jackson Burnside, and my guest at this time, the UWL World Heavyweight Champion, #1 Daron Smythe.
DARON: Normally, in a tag team match, even if you don't necessary love or even like your partners, you believe that you are all working towards a common goal. Victory. The pay window. But in this case, I can't help but feel like it's a five-on-one. It's unsurprising - but something about this time feels...different. I'm proud to be the UWL World Champion, proud to carry this belt on my shoulder and be *the* guy for the company and I think it's finally starting to irk people. Usually I'd let these responses slide, but I'm about sick and tired of this shit and its time to bite back.
First, there's Jackson Burnside. When I talked about being the man who beat Cory Chevelle for the title and being the only man in the UWL able to do it, he limped in talking about how he had beaten Cory. How about when it counts? How does it feel to not be mentioned, considering you did the same shit to me for well over a year - I climbed up the card, working my ass off, and you wouldn't even acknowledge my existences. And now, when the tables are turned, you act all butthurt about it? That's how it felt, man. I understand we have to team up together tonight and I can put all the BS aside for one night, but just know, when this business with Cyrus Rinaldi is over, you're more than welcome to step up to the plate. I just hope you already have a new nickname or persona ready for when you go away for a while after getting beat by the champ, because that's what you do, isn't it?
And Billy Danielson - you don't think the GOAT wants to get his hands on this belt again? He's carried the Heritage Championship for a while now and everyone knows what the next step is - a world title shot. I'm sure he hasn't forgotten about the Coronation Cup final and neither have I. I'm ready anytime, Billy, and I'll have my head on a swivel tonight, just in case.
BRADDOCK looked like he would become the baddest mofo in this whole company at one point. This indestrucable hardcore giant is a scary individual, but he seems like he's being lead around on a leash by Cory Chevelle, the two are even going to dominate the Tag Team division, because quite frankly, the tag team scene in the UWL has been a bit pathetic. These two monsters will likely hold onto the belts for as long as they like.
Speaking of Cory, I have to admit I was disappointed when he resorted to Twitter fingers to talk a little shit about me and my match with Cyrus. #Justice4Cyrus? Give me an f'n break. The baddest wrestler in the UWL's history is now a Twitter Tough Guy? How pathetic.
And finally, you, Cyrus. Acting all high and mighty like *you* are the savior of the UWL and the entire wrestling business, acting like you suddenly cherish the TWN Championship, when just a few months back you were throwing a hissy fit about title eliminator matches for that belt. You cheated to win and hold a championship that really is the spot for the Women's Championship, isn't it? And you say what if I had won, would I call it a participation trophy? Hell no, the belt would actually be important then, instead of being a place holder, a consolation prize to keep you happy because you just aren't ready to be a top dog here. You said it yourself - what's left after the chase to the top? You don't even know yourself.
I'll see all of you in the ring tonight... I'm looking forward to it...
Daron snaps his fingers at the camera and the scene quickly cuts to black...

The scene fades and opens up with Tony Rios standing alongside with interviewer Abby Joseph.
Tony Rios: Thanks for taking the time to conduct this interview request that I asked for. I suffered my first defeat here in the UWL in a championship match. It was a triple threat though and I lost to two solid wrestlers.
Abby Joseph: There is no shame to lose to either Nicole Sanders or to the current champion Jackson Burnside.
Tony Rios: No not at all they have had quite the careers here in the UWL and they do bring the spirit of competition and that is what I want win or lose. I mean Nicole Sanders had quite the championship reign and Jackson Burnside is a powerhouse and earned a huge win at Under Pressure. Jackson Burnside has earned my respect for sure Abby.
Abby has a surprised look on her face as Tony says that.
Abby Joseph: Well this week you have quite the challenge in Latoya Hixx, she has made a huge impact here in the UWL so far.
Tony Rios: I agree on both counts she has certainly made a impact and defeated Jenna Jillian Walker at Under Pressure that is a huge win for her and she has momentum for sure going into our match. Especially considering that this match is a contendership match for the TWN Championship. I certainly plan to atone for my defeat at Under Pressure and win this match against Latoya tonight.
Abby Joseph: Latoya Hixx certainly won't be easy to defeat she is quite the powerhouse for sure.
Tony Rios: Yes, she is a very promising challenge for me, however I had to face off with Jackson Burnside at the PPV so I have a taste of adapting to someone with a powerful moveset. While I have some respect for Latoya Hixx's abilities I do plan to defeat her and earn my opportunity at the TWN Championship and face off against Cyrus Rinaldi at some point.
Abby Joseph: Thanks for your time good luck in your matchup.
Tony Rios: I don't feel that I need any luck I plan on getting a big win tonight.
The scene fades as Tony Rios walks out of the camera view.

The cameras catch up with Harlan DuBois backstage. The Weatherman's manager is sitting on a bench in the men's locker room busy at work. There is a tablet open at his side, and he periodically glances at it and taps something while working on another project. On his lap is Jackson Burnside's Television Championship, and DuBois is going to make certain it is at a pristine shine for his client tonight. Harlan really works at the center plate, rubbing it furiously with a rag. He looks up off camera at the sound of a door opening. He smiles, gets to his feet and casually puts his arms (and the title belt) behind his back.
Harlan DuBois: "Good evening, Mr. Burnside."
UWL's Weatherman enters the shot proper. The newly-minted TV Champ is looking at the top of his game tonight. His blonde curls freshly trimmed and cleaned up, his face clean shaven as a baby's bottom. He is back to embracing his Weatherman roots, sporting an unseasonable coat and a scarf with a Burberry pattern. Burnside removes his sunglasses and greets his manager with a warm but firm grip on the shoulder.
Jackson Burnside: "The legend, the man I waned to see. Harlan brother, good to see ya."
Harlan DuBois: "I trust you had a restful and exciting two weeks?" Jackson smiles and nods, because he knows what Harlan is asking about. "The flights were adequet then? No issues with transportation?"
Jackson Burnside: "You crushed it dude."
Harlan DuBois: "I trust you and Nicole had a nice dinner on Sunday then? A hard reservation for most to procure, but not me."
Harlan lets a sly grin escape.
Jackson Burnside: "It was fantastic, and Nikki loved it. You didn't have to go through the trouble"
Harlan DuBois: "The honor was mine. I take pride in ensuring my clients are taken care of. And you were able to attend-" Harlan is about to say a name but he catches himself. He exhales through his nose and catches a sideways glance from Burnside. "Attend your daughter's open house?"
Jackson laughs to break the tension and he pats Harlan on the shoulder.
Jackson Burnside: "It was all great, stop worryin' man. Look, we can talk personal stuff later, away from the cameras. Know what I mean brother? Tonight... Tonight is my first apperance since recapturing the Television Title, and I want it to-" It's Jackson's turn to stop himself. He looks around the room and then back to his manager. "Where is my belt anyway?" Harlan finally moves his hands from behind his back. He presents the Television Title to Burnside, and it catches the light perfectly. The TV Title belt shines like brand new. Jackson beams when he sees it. "Aw man, c'mon look at that! Brother, you didn't... Did you get it releathered too?"
Harlan DuBois: "Only the finest leather you can get stateside, and shined to a radiant brilliance by these very hands." Harlan hands the belt over and Jackson looks at it while he continues. "Only the best for my clients. Tonight you're in the main event with Smythe and Danielson. The 'core' three singles champions all on a team. It's imperative, Mr. Burnside, that you look your best when you stand shoulder to shoulder with them tonight."
Burnside puts the newly polished title over his shoulder and gestures to the door. The Weatherman exits the locker room with Harlan and his tablet following close behind. Together they walk down the hall and talk shop.
Jackson Burnside: "Alright. So what's next? Showcase of Champions tonight, we take out Cory, BRADDCK, 'n Cyrus right? What's after tonight brother?"
Harlan DuBois: "Title defenses for one. You understand what being a champion in UWL means, and especially TV Champion."
Jackson Burnside: "Good. I want defenses because the Weatherman ain't no paper champ dude!"
Harlan just nods, he continues to look down at his tablet.
Harlan DuBois: "The big annual show is in November, and then Starzone in December to close out the year. A lot can happen between now and November, but I think it's important we get you into a marquee match for November. Something special, a stipulation title defense maybe? Something exciting, a ladder match maybe?...."
Harlan isn't necessarily asking Burnside, and he trails off as a million thoughts run through his head. Burnside stops abruptly, and sticks his arm at to halt his manager as well.
Jackson Burnside: "I want Chevy." Burnside turns to look at Harlan just as he peeks up from his tablet. "He and I have unfinished business, and I'm not letting what he and I have end in some, fatal four way nonsense. I want Chevy, I want him alone brother. This has gone on for too long between us, and if I don't get the resolution I want, I might have to take matters into my own hands."
It's up to Harlan DuBois to play peacekeeper now. He puts one hand on Burnside's shoulder and looks in right in the eye.
Harlan DuBois: "You will get your hands on Cory Chevelle. That's a promise I'm making you, man-to-man. You've got him tonight, but I know it's not what you actually want. It'll take some time, it's the end of the year, he's a Tag Champ, you're the TV Champ. It can get it done, I just need time. I don't believe that you, or Cory, are exiting UWL any time soon."
Jackson Burnside nods, he understands.
Jackson Burnside: "Get it done. I want some movement on this soon brother, or I'll force 'em to make the match." Harlan nods and mouths "I understand." "I'm gonna head back and get ready. Take care of business back here, and I'll take care of business in the ring."
Burnside puts his hand up. Harlan high fives and they clasp their hands together in a sign of solidarity. The Television Champion begins to make his way back to the locker room, After Burnside heads out the cameras hang around following DuBois. He makes his way down the hall with his head down in his tablet. He makes a few indiscriminate swipes and jabs at the screen, unknowingly walking into and bumping shoulders with Tony Rios. Harlan casually looks up and turns around to apologize.
Harlan DuBois: "So sorry, excuse me Mi-" DuBois stops himself. Likely expecting a stage hand or somebody from production, and not the large man whom his own client pinned just two weeks ago to become TV Champion. DuBois catches himself and finishes his apology before he's quiet for too long and things get awkward. "Mr. Rios. I didn't see you there."
Rios feigns unflappable seriousness and mean mugs Harlan for a few, long uncomfortable seconds. Harlan sweats it out for those seconds before Rios cracks a smiile.
Tony Rios: "No problem, maybe watch where you're walking though. The Weatherman's got you working hard, uh, what was it again? Harper DuBrow?"
Harlan DuBois: "DuBois. Harlan DuBois, sir. Though I forgive you for not knowing, after all I'm not the star of the show and in a proper production you don't see the men working behind the curtain now do you?"
Tony raises an eyebrow.
Tony Rios: "Or a puppeteer?"
He crosses his arm. Harlan DuBois smiles and looks down at the floor.
Harlan DuBois: "No, no. No, I assure you. I work for Mr. Burnside," He looks up and waves his tablet around, "and that leaves me very busy. He is, as you obviously know, the new Television Champ. Now that's not some cheap shot, Mr. Rios. Just fact. Truth be told I see potential in you. You stick it out here in UWL for awhile... I think 'Main Attraction' will be more than just a moniker."
Tony Rios: "Yeah? You think so."
DuBois nods.
Harlan DuBois: "Yes. You're big, you're strong, you're young, and I see a hunger. You want it. I may not be a professional wrestler myself, but I've watched this business since I was a boy in He-Man pajamas, and I know it well. I've learned to recognize how the very special talents stand out from the rest. Good luck in your number one contenders match, Mr. Rios."
Harlan extends a hand, a real gesture of sportsmanship. Tony Rios accepts and keeps a firm eye on DuBois. They disengage, and DuBois resumes looking over his tablet and his walk down the hall. He doesn't even Tony's advice that he should watch where he's going.

Jenna Jillian Walker is sitting in her car in the parking lot of Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Ashville, North Carolina
Jenna Jillian Walker: I don’t normally sit in my car and do these sorts of things. I am a little more interested in my actions in the ring speaking for me but hey there is a first time for everything, right? Tonight I am stepping into the ring with Blade LaVigne. I’ve got to hand it to you, Blade, I actually respect what you stand for because there are many similarities between you and I. We both come from small towns in the midwest, we both have a great love and appreciation for this great sport. So I know when we step into the ring tonight it’ll be a barn burner.
Jenna sits back in her seat.
Jenna Jillian Walker: I hope you don’t end up taking my kindness for weakness though, Blade. Not because you aren’t a hell of an athlete but because so am I. I have held UWL gold this year and I want that feeling again. Not just because the World Television title was taken from me by underhanded tactics but because of the love of the game. Working my ass off in preparation to step into a wrestling ring is the best way to show the respect for this sport that we all love and becoming a champion especially in a place like UWL the ultimate tangible of showing where you stand in this great sport. That is why if you look at the UWL champion’s row it is truly the pinnacle of great wrestling. So when the final bell rings tonight I know one thing for sure and that is we will both have brought it. I just hope the preparation I have put in will lead me to getting my hand raised tonight.

We open on the UWL Heritage Championship sitting nicely on a side table. The table is next to a bench, and as the camera slowly pans out, we see not only the Heritage Championship but also the Heritage Champion, Billy Danielson. He’s not yet in his ring gear, but you can tell he is in the middle of getting ready when the urge to cut a promo hits him.
Billy Danielson - Can we take a moment and appreciate something…
Danielson throws a hand as if asking the viewers to contemplate his suggestion.
Billy Danielson - I have been teaming with and fighting against Jackson Burnside and Daron Smythe all year. It doesn’t matter where we have been in our journeys, because the one constant has been one of the three of us in some form of tag team match, with the odd man out on the other side of the ring. I watched as Daron was questioning his place here in UWL and contemplating retirement, but now he’s a two-time World Champion. Jackson Burnside had his title taken from him by me nearly a year ago, and yet here he is with another title.
There’s a look of familiarity on Billy’s face. It’s ALMOST like he’s talking about old friends or beloved colleagues. ALMOST. As he continues to smile and hype up his partners for tonight, he places a hand on his Heritage Championship.
Billy Danielson - I’ve watched as their stock has risen and dropped and risen again. All while I was becoming the longest reigning Heritage Champion and had the most defenses of any singles champion in nearly a decade. Now we sit, as a team bonded in blood and gold, standing tall as 3 separate but equal champions.
He takes his Heritage Championship, throws it over his shoulder and smiles.
Billy Danielson - At this point, Daron, Jackson and I need to revive the trios' titles and become their forever champion because we’ve teamed so much and know each other so well. The chemistry in the ring is so impeccable, that we’re almost at the point of creating tag moves just in case we decide to do so.
Billy laughs under his breath as he continues.
Billy Danielson - What is really scary is that, under any other circumstance, nobody would be able to stop us. The respect, the bonds, the chemistry, the gold. We’re basically the perfect unit…
He pauses.
Billy Danielson - If we weren’t facing the other 2 champions in the same match.
Danielson’s face dramatically drops, as if someone had spoiled his near-dream team-up by booking the other champions.
Billy Danielson - And that’s another thing to appreciate about this match.
He throws his finger up, trying to catch the attention of the audience as he raises another point of appreciation.
Billy Danielson - Because not only is one, two, or even 3 titles in one singular match tonight, but UWL has all 5 championships being represented in their main event.
The star power of this main event seems daunting, but Danielson doesn’t look bothered. Billy wiggles the shoulder with his championship belt to signify his part in this big match-up.
Billy Danielson - This is a crazy concept because even back when my grandfather ran his territory out in the St. Louis area, the mindset was “Don’t book 2 champions in the same match unless it’s really going to mean something”.
Remembering the wise booking advice of the late great Carny, Russ Danielson, Billy throws a finger up to the sky in a small, but wholesome moment.
Billy Danielson - It’s impressive to see so many high-profile wrestlers in one match. We are all at different places in our careers, but we are all at the top of the UWL right now. So if we can’t make this match mean something, nobody can.
He forms a fist in front of himself to emphasize the fact that this match is one of the biggest in UWL’s current history. When was the last time all of the champions were in one match fighting for supremacy? Even in just an exhibition like this one. It was definitely going to be something special.
Billy Danielson - Cyrus Rinaldi for instance…
He pauses for effect.
Billy Danielson - He’s one of the fastest-rising stars in the UWL. Daron, Jackson, Cory, and myself have all been here before, but Cyrus has had to blaze a trail. He could have been like Nick Danger, Ace Sky, or the guys who all ran off to WWA to feel like they meant something, but he didn’t. He has scratched and clawed his way to an upper echelon, even if it’s whatever the TWN Championship is.
Billy laughs. He obviously respects Cyrus and the TWN Championship, but he couldn’t help the little dig he made.
Billy Danielson - Cyrus is formidable, but he has just proven that he can’t be Daron Smythe, which begs the question, can he hang with the Greatest of All Time or The Weatherman? Two of the most decorated men in the modern era of the UWL? Or is the TWN Championship just the 3rd Runner-Up Medallion and he’s settling for the bottom of the barrel?
Danielson shrugs, having no answers for these questions that only he is really asking.
Billy Danielson - But those questions need to be held for another time because he’s not alone.
Billy’s demeanor changes. It’s hard to tell if he’s excited to talk about his friend, or reluctant to talk about his rival. The issue is that these feelings are for the same person, and it’s not easy to decipher which emotion The Silverback elicits off the top of the head.
Billy Danielson - No, Cyrus has the King of Carrying on his side, Cory Chevelle.
A bit of scoffing from the Heritage Champion as he playfully rolls his eyes.
Billy Danielson - Whether it was Nascar Billy Sutton, Binky the Bear, Ron Hamilton, or even a younger Billy Danielson, Cory Chevelle was always able to carry people to success when they weren’t able to do it on their own. He’s just that damn good.
He nods with emphasis.
Billy Danielson - However, he’s horrendously oblivious to his own stupidity and likes to lower himself to match those he’s carrying. The HellBillys went nowhere, Binky is a dick, and Ron with the rest of the Bully Club never made it out of our little notebooks. Hell, I could even get a little personal and talk about all the women he’s wasted his time with because he knew he could provide no matter how little they offered him. He’s in the same loop with the person he’s tagging with. Someone I don’t believe is worth acknowledging, so they’re lucky I’m referencing them here.
The frustration rises in his voice. Cory Chevelle is definitely a polarizing individual both inside and outside of the squared circle, and the people he associates with are often a point of strain between him and Billy, but Billy always finds room in his heart for his friend, no matter the low lives he associates with.
Billy Danielson - I love Cory, but if he wants to talk about my ego, he should look in the mirror and see the man I learned it from. I give praise to my opponents, win or lose. I acknowledge the fans. I have busted my ass to not only be the man that prevented Cory from retaining his World Title earlier this year but also be one of the most decorated Heritage Champions of all time. I am a first-ballot Hall of Famer when I finally retire from here and that means I have earned every bit of my ego that I have and will wear it like a badge of honor as I put you down for a second time in my career.
He pauses for a moment as he looks at the camera with a competitive and focused face. At this moment, Danielson believes he could handle his three opponents by himself with an arm behind his back. Luckily, he doesn’t have to do that, because he’s not alone in the main event.
Billy Danielson - And the same can be said about Jackson Burnside and Daron Smythe. They’ve earned every ounce of ego that they have, and when we put down Cyrus and Cory, we’ll remind them just how big of a handicap it is to face us in this capacity, as a tag team, or otherwise.
Billy pats the face plate of his Heritage Championship as he smiles with determination. Billy holds the Work Horse Championship, Daron holds the World Heavyweight Championship, and Jackson Burnside is the Champion of Television in its entirety (but specifically, the Weather Channel).
Billy Danielson - Our blood is as golden as our hearts and our belts, so get ready for one of the hardest matches y’all have ever wrestled in, and Asheville I hope you’re ready for the highest profile six-man tags you will have ever watched…
He smirks one last time.
Billy Danielson - On that much, I can promise.
Billy raises his Heritage Championship one last time, showing that he is ready for tonight.
