Jackson Burnside is seen following the 11/2 show. He is backstage in the trainer's room with an ice pack resting on his head. The Weatherman is still rattled from the blow with the chain and the beating that followed. The door to the room is heard opening and Harlan DuBois lets himself in.
Harlan DuBois:
"How are you, Mr. Burnside?"
Burnside lowers the icepack then looks over at Harlan. He winces, either in pain or from the fluorescent overhead lighting.
Jackson Burnside:
"I'll live."
Harlan DuBois:
"I know you will. I thought you should know, we were offered a match for the 19th anniversary show."
Burnside gives Harlan a look that says, "yes, and?" but before DuBois can respond the door opens again. TWN Champion Tony Rios lets himself in. He greets DuBois with a firm shoulder grasp and looks over to Burnside.
Tony Rios:
"How you holding up big guy? You got worked over out there."
Instead Harlan DuBois responds.
Harlan DuBois:
"He'll be fine. Mr. Rios, thank you for having my client's back out there tonight, as promised. We anticipated BRADDOCK, but a chain? Not so much."
Tony Rios:
"Hey it's no problem. I'm sure Jack over here would have done the same for me."
Burnside gets up. He brings the ice back up to his head and stumbles a bit. DuBois steps back and watches Burnside meet Rios face to face.
Jackson Burnside:
"Tony brother, I owe you. You said you'd have my back, I was a bit uh..."
Tony offers a word.
Tony Rios:
"Dickish?"
Jackson Burnside:
"Standoffish. I do like you dude, you sent Cory and Vulgar Display running. I'm sure they're gonna come for you now, and I got your back. We're gonna show those SOBs that they don't run this show."
Tony nods approvingly. DuBois inserts himself between the two and interjects.
Harlan DuBois:
"Well this is lovely. Mr. Burnside, I was just saying - before Mr. Rios joined us - there is a potential match. We've already spoken and Mr. Rios is on board: 19th Anniversary show, Vulgar Display of Power defending the UWL Tag Championship against the team of Tony Rios, and UWL's Weatherman. What do you say?"
Burnside nods and weighs the opportunity.
Jackson Burnside:
"This is a sure thing?"
Harlan DuBois:
"Give me authorization and the contract can be signed tonight."
Burnside thinks about it. He lowers the ice pack and touches his head wound. Burnside looks back and forth between Rios and his manager, then lowers his hand to Rios.
Jackson Burnside:
"Let's rock and roll."
Rios accepts and the two men shake on it. For one night at least, a new alliance will step up to challenge the dominance of Cory Chevelle and BRADDOCK - Vulgar Display of Power.
