Two tales of Caleb Hart
By Jay Jefferson
On September 13th, 2014, Caleb Hart would set out on a journey like not many had seen before or seen since. In October 2014, Caleb Hart unified the Heavyweight, International, and Heritage to form the Triple Crown. Caleb Hart was setting records when it all stopped. Through things beyond the control of the foundation and the franchise, Caleb Hart stepped away. Yes, at the height of his career, he stepped away, not just from the UWL at the time, but he stepped away from wrestling. During that time, no one really knew what Caleb Hart was up to. No one knows what he had on his mind each and every day as he sat waiting and watching.
Six years, yes, six years. Six long years. Caleb Hart returned to the ring. After Robb Daniels began to call out to Caleb Hart, who at the time was not here, not anywhere. But the prodding from Robb Daniels caused Caleb Hart to return. Caleb Hart returned to the ring on July 2nd and again on July 3rd. Caleb Hart looked like he hadn’t lost a step.
Caleb Hart would march on to the Coronation Cup, a tournament he had won once before in 2014. In 2021, Caleb Hart made it all the way to the semi-finals, suffering his first pinfall loss since returning to the ring.
On December 18th, 2021 at Starrzone, Caleb Hart was able to capture the Heritage Championship against someone who’d been a thorn in his side since returning to the ring, Chris Madison.
The 2022 Coronation Cup took place, and for the first time in its history, Caleb Hart became the first two-time winner of the Coronation Cup. Caleb Hart was in line for a shot at the UWL Championship. In classic Caleb Hart fashion, he was able to overcome the big man, Jackson Burnside, who’d been unstoppable and become the UWL Champion. But instead of a hero's speech for the ages, what we got was nothing short of a spit in the face of all the fans who’ve supported Caleb Hart during his return.
After the betrayal of the century, Caleb Hart is in a position to carry UWL to new heights. But not for the good of all, but in his eyes, the good of one person, Caleb Hart.
What does the future have in store? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain. At this point, we must expect the unexpected.
