SKYPE CALL…
Abby Joseph - If you’re watching this, then you’re probably wondering, just what the special occasion is?
Emily Lyle - No this is not an upstart podcast but simply an accommodation for the newest addition to the UWL roster.
Abby Joseph - Ladies and Gentlemen it is our pleasure to Welcome ‘the Headliner’ Robb Daniels to UWL following a very impressive debut this past Saturday Night in Myrtle Beach at Eruption.
Robb Daniels - Good Afternoon. Thank you so much for such a warm introduction.
Emily Lyle - Robb you’ve been competing and most recently booking in this business for many years now. What brings you to UWL?
Robb Daniels - What brings me to UWL? Okay, I know the answer to that question…
Both Emily and Abby laugh as they can be seen in their square quarter of the screen.
Robb Daniels - Abby you’re from East Tennessee, correct?
Abby Joseph - Yes.
Robb Daniels - Well, much like you girls I did my home work. So when you went to work for WKPT in Kingsport you had to relocate. You had to move out of your dorm from college, move out of your childhood bedroom if you were still living at home with mom and pops. Either way there was ‘a change of venue’ shall I say from your day to day. You had to relocate to be closer to your j-o-b. And that’s fine—but you knew if it didn’t work out with WKPT you could always go back to mom and pops. You knew you could always go back HOME.
Abby Jospeh - Absolutely.
Robb Daniels - Same for you Emily, being from Tennessee you had to move closer to Knoxville to work for WTNZ, just as you travel around with UWL to be closer to your work.
“So I said all that—to say this.”
Daniels takes his finger through his thick brown hair and takes a drink from his water bottle.
Robb Daniels - Girls, an old saying is ‘when the going gets tough, the tough get going’. You’ve heard that—well see I thrive on the tough. I enjoy a good challenge. But I was ready to head back to Knoxville. Now let’s not forget—I was born in Lexington, Kentucky. I’ve lived in Orlando, Toronto, right here in Knoxville but most recently Seattle, Washington. I have moved around my entire career trying to get closer to my work. But Home is where the Heart is—theres another one of those old sayings that I know you’ve heard.
“The reason I am in UWL is because the Universal Wrestling League is my Home.”
Emily Lyle - It’s been a while since the rebranding from the UWL to UWL but at the core you’re a pillar to the foundation of this company.
Robb Daniels - No I’m not. See—I was an integral part of the rich history that was the Universal Wrestling League but that is no more. See, I can’t wrap my head around the ideal of is something isn’t broke then why fix it? I’ve been asking myself this over and over and over again. Pull up your cellphone, go to the UWL website and look up the company history. Google it. I am a three time UWL World Champion. Joey Hollywood and I was one of the best tag teams in all of wrestling. In 2013, I went through the absolute toughest field of professional wrestlers this business has ever compiled in one location at any time.
“Go through the companies history and you’ll find two things…It will mention the time I wont the Coronation Cup nearly ten years ago and this past Saturday Night when I dropped Tyler Barrett with the Domino Effect which is formerly known as the Picture Perfect Stunner.”
Abby Joseph - Universal Wrestling League has evolved to UWL. Championship histories are recognized and your legacy within this company was cemented years ago.
Emily Lyle - You’re a household name Robb. You have been a long standing member of this roster for years even in your absence buying Seattle Pro Wrestling and ‘evolving’ it into what Mainstream Wrestling is today…
Robb Daniels - Maybe you’re right. Maybe, I am overthinking it all—perhaps I should focus on ‘Number One’. Or at least that’s what he calls himself.
Abby Joseph - You’re referring to your next opponent on the first Saturday in August against the self-proclaimed ‘Number One’ Daron Smythe.
Robb Daniels - I was scrolling through my social media accounts on the plane and I get my introduction to Daron in a promo with you Abby. He said that there are thousands of myself but only one—number one. I’ve been in the game for long enough to know you’re either still chasing the persona you claim to be or you finally become what you’ve always said you were! Daron Smythe is a big bastard with a similar sized ego. He’s trying to get home just like me, so our paths collide for an epic Eruption in two weeks. It’s time to buckle down, get back to work and write a new chapter to this ‘manifesto’ that is the legacy of yours truly.
Emily Lyle - It’s sure good to see you here in UWL. You have a fire and determination about you like we’ve not seen in a very long time.
Abby Jospeh - Thank you Robb for joining us today. How about we do this next week?
Robb Daniels - I think we can arrange that—Number One…I’m coming for you!
Robb Daniels flashes two middle fingers at the camera for all to see before the feed cuts out.
